Important Tips in Wedding Planning

Wedding consists of several things. Even though wedding is fun, planning the wedding can often lead to a lot of frustration. If you forget a few things, that might not make any big difference. On the other hand, certain other items can result in major embarrassment or a serious problem. Here is a checklist of the things that you have to attend to without missing them, if you wish to have a smooth wedding.

  • The wedding starts from the invitation printing. Take enough time to proofread the invitation for printing errors, including the venue and time of the wedding and/or the reception. Spend time on the design of the invitation to make it as attractive as possible, within your budget limits.

  • If you are including a list of wedding presents along with your invitation, then ensure that the number of presents is more than the people that you invite. To some extent, this will avoid duplication in the same present coming from different people.

  • Get the confirmation of attendance from guests and keep it updated until the last moment, so that you know exactly how many persons are attending the wedding. This will help in arranging the chairs, tables and food without any shortage.

  • If your wedding is in a place not familiar to the guests, then it is advisable to attach a detailed map along with the invitation, containing clear instructions.

  • If the wedding is in a church, ensure that you have enough Order of Service sheets, so that all the guests have one and you too have a permanent memento of your wedding.

  • Another item that can be easily missed is the Thank You cards. Remember to print enough Thank You cards along with the invitation cards, preferably in the same style or theme of the invitations.

  • Make sure that the photo and the video arrangements are confirmed fully. If needed, take confirmation slips or signed receipts from the service providers, with the venue and time indicated in the slips.

  • If you are arranging a car for the wedding, check up the condition of the car. A vintage Rolls Royce might look impressive but it will be awkward if it refuses to run. If the wedding gown is elaborate, then the space in a small car might not be enough for the bride.

  • If you are planning for a wedding cake, then arrange for a cake stand and a cake knife also. These are forgotten most of the time. The couple will not be impressive with a steak knife in the wedding photo.

  • Ensure that the food is of good quality. If needed, try out the food at a few places before you decide. If you are getting a separate contractor, ask that person to provide a few sample items before confirming the contract.

  • Travel arrangements should not have any lacunae. If the wedding is performed at some distance, then arrange enough transportation for all the guests that require it. Ensure that there are enough parking facilities in the venue for all the guests.

  • The bride and the groom should not take up any responsibility of overseeing the arrangements once the function starts. This should be left to some other person, so that they couple will not feel embarrassed or let down at the time of wedding. They should have an unhindered good time, since this is an event not occurring very often.

These are only the basic points that you have to remember in a wedding to conduct it smoothly. We have several more ideas to make the function a grand one. Contact us for detailed information on wedding planning.
